Family Cycle Works didn't start with a business plan. It started with a collection of frustrations.
Chris Jornlin spent years in engineering — good at the work, but increasingly certain it wasn't his work. He'd been riding bikes since he was five years old. City streets as a kid. College commutes. And then, in his 30s, something shifted. He built a proper road bike. Started riding gravel. He and his wife Colleen completed a bikepacking trip through the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest — 100 miles over three days. They were taking countless family jaunts with their kiddos. The more they rode, the more they noticed: finding a shop that actually treated you like a person was harder than it should be.
So they built one.
Family Cycle Works opened in West Allis because this community deserves a neighborhood bike shop — the kind where someone explains what your bike actually needs before they touch it, where a kid's first bike gets the same attention as an expensive road build, and where you leave knowing more than when you came in.
The goal has been the same since day one: every customer leaves feeling confident about their bike and their ride.

Chris has been riding bikes his whole life and has a passion for building bikes, riding gravel, and bikepacking. He holds a Professional Bicycle Mechanic certificate from the United Bicycle Institute.
Chris and his wife and FCW co-owner Colleen opened Family Cycle Works because everyone deserves a shop that treats them right and does great work.

Brent has been a lifelong rider with connections to the cycling industry for 25 years. He holds a Master Mechanic certificate from the United Bicycle Institute and runs the service team — service, suspension, warranty, and assembly.
